Meet Mocha & Maisie

Mocha the Nubian
Mocha was a rescue. She has been living with us for about 9 months. She came to us very thin and with a large tumor. We have been treating her the best we can and she actually did end up giving birth to Dusty and Canyon! She didn't take her babies though and we are bottle feeding them. Mocha may require medications and other treatment.

Update: Mocha went to the vet today because the tumor was growing very rapidly. It turns out that it is cancer. It isn't treatable but we are going to keep her as comfortable as possible.

Maisie, the Scottish Highland Cow
Maisie is a Scottish Highland Cow. When she was born February 22, 2024, her mom rejected her in a violent and traumatizing way. We are bottle feeding her and she is thriving. Calf formula is VERY expensive so we could use help.

Little J Ranch Farm Sanctuary

Little J Ranch Farm Sanctuary began in 2017 as a humble hobby farm nestled in the scenic Sacramento Mountains of Cloudcroft, New Mexico.

Katie Jones and her two daughters, Lorelei and Dakota, call the ranch home. It all started when they took in four roosters, a pregnant Scottish Highland cow named Lola, and her calf Abigail — all in need of a safe place to land. They purchased Lola as part of the hobby farm. The family built a shelter for the cattle, added a few hens for fresh eggs, and before they knew it, Lola gave birth to a calf named Hamish. When they shared his story on Facebook, it went viral — and their mission to rescue animals was born.

Since then, Little J Ranch has grown into a sanctuary for over 100 animals, including 51 chickens, 24 ducks, quail, 2 cows, 13 goats, 4 pigs, 2 sheep, 2 donkeys, rabbits, dogs, cats, a hamster, and even 2 miniature horses. Every animal has a name, a story, and a second chance.

The sanctuary rescues animals who have been abused, neglected, or simply need a new home. Some stay for life, while others are adopted out to carefully vetted homes that align with the ranch’s values. At Little J Ranch, every animal matters — and every life is worth saving.

Visitors from across the country come to meet the animals and experience the love and joy they bring. For seven years, the Jones family has personally funded the sanctuary through egg sales and their own resources. Now, with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, Little J Ranch can accept tax-deductible donations to continue their life-saving work.

Because all farm animals deserve to live their best lives. 🐄🐐🐓
