Donations to the Humane Society of Charlotte directly support programs that improve the lives of pets and the people who love them. Funds provide essential medical care, training, and socialization for animals in our adoption program, ensuring every pet is healthy, happy, and ready for a loving home.

Support also sustains our low-cost spay/neuter clinic and Pet Help Center, helping families keep their pets and prevent unnecessary surrender. Educational initiatives empower owners with the knowledge to provide responsible care and reduce overpopulation. Additionally, Trap/Spay/Neuter programs lower stray populations and improve community safety. Every gift strengthens human-animal bonds, fosters healthier pets, and builds a more compassionate community.

Meet 2025 Impact

So far in 2025, HSC has provided 417,606 meals to pets in need and distributed $24,728 in financial assistance to support medical care, behavior training, housing pet deposits, and emergency boarding. Our Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic has served more than 4,500 clients, helping families access essential care, while our Reading Buddies Education Program has welcomed 220 adults and children, giving shelter animals comfort and connection through shared stories.

In 2024, the Humane Society of Charlotte placed 3,671 pets into loving homes and cared for 1,526 foster animals, supported by more than 44,000 hours from dedicated fosters. Our clinic performed over 8,400 spay/neuter surgeries and treated 9,552 essential care patients, while nearly 900 pets received help through Spay It Forward.

The new Pet Help Center provided over 525,000 meals, served 1,842 walk-in clients, and distributed $26,745 in financial assistance to keep families and pets together. Volunteers gave 24,084 hours of service, and more than 2,700 people participated in educational programs, including Reading Buddies and dog training.

Founded in 1978, the Humane Society of Charlotte (HSC) is one of the leading animal welfare agencies in the Southeast. We have provided ongoing support and care to hundreds of thousands of pets and people through our adoption program, wellness clinic services, and low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Our community outreach efforts include a pet food bank, youth programming initiatives, and our new Pet Help Center. We focus our programming on the four pillars of animal welfare: placement, prevention, retention, and awareness.
